President U Min Aung Hlaing said that Taungoo District is being implemented into a special development zone and is implementing regional development related to Nay Pyi Taw. He made the remarks at the meeting with district and township-level department officials in Taungoo District, Bago Region at the hall of the local airbase to discuss regional development, on June 6.
He said that if Taungoo area is developed, people from other areas related to this region will also be willing to work for the development of their areas. The President also said that residents of Taungoo area need to think about how to develop their region. Although agriculture and livestock breeding are the main economic activities in the Toungoo area, it is necessary in the long term to promote production-based industries and MSME businesses that are based on the agriculture and livestock sectors.
In addition, the President said that since Taungoo area has already achieved rice self-sufficiency, the rice bran and broken rice which is byproduct of rice production can be used to produce animal feed and rice bran oil, and that fish farming can be successfully carried out in deep-water areas by utilizing the region’s basic resources. In addition, the President said that he is targeting Taungoo, Nay Pyi Taw, Yamethin, and Meiktila areas as special development ones.
