A teacher who is absconding after sexually exploiting some students studying at Naingthaya Village Basic Education Middle School (Branch) in Indakaw, Bago Township, Bago Region, was arrested at 7:30 pm on March 18, the head of the Indakaw Police Station told One News.
The teacher had been working at the school for more than 8 years and was absconding after the incident occurred in the school compound. He was arrested in Ashaygon Village in the same township.
The teacher allegedly invited some students to his lounge during the evening classes and after school, threatened them, and sexually exploited them. He had been doing it for almost three years. The parents of the students were completely unaware of what was happening. As some students who became intolerable about it informed the parents, the parents and the headmistress of the school came to know about the incident on February 17, 2025.
At least 10 students were sexually exploited. Parents of a Grade-5 schoolgirl and a schoolboy opened the case at the police station. The teacher is said to be in charge of the Grade-5 class, and the students who were sexually exploited are the schoolboys and schoolgirls from Grade-5 to Grade-8.
Currently, a case has been filed against the teacher according to the law, the head of Indakaw Police Station said.
