Sales of robes and other religious items have been on the rise this year compared to last year, according to religious goods stores in the market. Currently, prices of robe have increased by about 5 percent depending on the type, due to the increase in the price of some raw materials, including the price of cloth for robes, and the increase in general production costs, according to a robe shop owner.

Robes worth around 50,000 to 100,000 kyats are being sold more in the robe market, according to sources in the market. Robes are generally traded during the Waso robe donation season and the Kathina robe offering period.
Most robe maker sew their robes without any flaws and are often embroidered with the respective maker’s logo, some robe shop owers said. In recent years, some contractors have begun to design buildings that include devotional shrine rooms, so sales of of religious items such as Buddhist statues and shrines have also been on the rise.
