Only 2 out of 10 escapees from Aung Pan Police Station in Kalaw Township, Shan State (South) have been arrested, according to Kalaw Township Police.
In the early morning of January 9, the 10 inmates who were detained at the Aung Pan Police Station escaped by cutting the iron bars and wooden posts of the cell with a hacksaw.
Two of the escapees were recaptured on the same day while the others are still at large, an official of Kalaw Township Police said.
A team led by the Kalaw District Police Chief is in pursuit of the remaining escapees and the relevant authorities are investigating the motive behind the escape. The escapees include inmates who have been arrested for murder, robbery, and theft, according to Kalaw Township Police.
