More than 5.7 billion kyats worth of drugs were seized in Tachilek, Shan State (East) on December 14 evening, according to the statement released by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control on December 17.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team including security personnel searched a house Wanekyauk Ward, Tachilek Township, at 5 pm on December 14 and found and seized the mild alltering narcotic drugs – 141 kilos of ICE (methamphetamine), 20 kilos of ketamine and 128,000 tablets of ecstasy – along with a man.

Upon investigation, the joint team continued to search another house in Sansai (B) Ward in the same township and found and seized another mild-altering drug – two kilos of Happy Water, 16,000 tablets of Happy-5 and nine kilos of ecstasy powder – along with two men. In this case, a total of three men were arrested under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law, and the suspects of the crime chain are being investigated and identified, the statement said.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 40 special anti-narcotics operations were conducted from 2013 to 2024, and a similar special operation called Operation 39/24 is being implemented.
