Fares of the buses running on the road section between the cities of Kalay and Hakha in Chin State have increased excessively, according to locals using the road section.
It is said that due to the situation of instability in the region of Falam located on the route of the road section between Kalay and Hakha and increase of fuel prices, the fares for buses travelling between the two cities have increased excessively.

The current bus fare on the route between Kalay and Hakha costs more than 300,000 kyats for a passenger. There are no buslines on the route but private ones, and local travellers have to share the total cost for renting a private bus, a local using the road section said.

In addition, it is learnt that as the road section between Kalay and Hakha is bumpy for big vehicles to travel, only small cars could be used on the route, which causes the rise in prices of basic food items.
