The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reported that the earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck at its epicenter approximately 9 miles northeast of Wandwin, Mandalay Region at 8:55 a.m. on April 13.
Some residents in Mandalay City felt the earthquake significantly, and residents in apartments were forced to flee to the streets.
It was also reported that 128 aftershocks had occurred since the Mandalay earthquake on March 28, as of 9 a.m. on April 13.
Geological experts have also warned to be cautious about earthquake risk as more aftershocks are expected to occur after the main earthquake.
