Hotel rooms and guesthouses in the Bagan region are fully booked for travellers to visit the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone during the long New Year holidays, U Win Aung, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Bagan Branch). More than 200,000 pilgrims visited Bagan during the Christmas holiday and school holidays.
Hotels and guesthouses have been fully booked for the long holiday from December 28 to January 1, 2025. There are more than 3,000 places to visit in Bagan, including the Swe Taw Lay Su and other famous pagodas, and domestic and foreign pilgrims visit the region on regular days other than the long holiday, U Win Aung said.
This year, the number of travellers visiting Bagan is expected to be higher than last year’s. The Bagan region received more than five million domestic and international travellers in 2023, according to the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Bagan Branch).
