Two men who were trapped and survived the collapse of the Aye Chan Thar Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw were successfully rescued, according to a One News correspondent on the ground. The first was 26-year-old Naing Lin Htun, a hotel maintenance worker. He was rescued at 3 pm on April 1. He was successfully rescued at 12.30 am after 9.30 hours.
The search and rescue operation for the remaining Maung Htet Maung Maung began at 10:00 am on April 2. The search and rescue operation lasted for about 3 and a half hours. Contact was made with one of Maung Htet Maung Maung’s arms at 1:15 pm, and he was successfully rescued at 1:50 pm.
The two people trapped in the Aye Chan Thar Hotel were rescued by the Myanmar Fire Service (Special) search and rescue team together with members of GEA Search and Rescue from Türkiye (Turkey).
According to the latest figures collected as of 8 am on April 2, a total of 2,886 people died in the earthquake disaster nationwide and in the earthquake-affected areas, a total of 4,639 people were injured and 373 people are missing, according to a press release by SAC Information Team.
