Drugs worth over two billion kyats in Thazi Township, Mandalay Region, according to a statement released by the Myanmar Police Force.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of security forces searched a truck driven by a man from Muse to Yangon near Kweetatsone Village, Thazi Township, Mandalay Region, at around 11 pm on January 24. During the search, 1.38 million pills of stimulant drugs worth over 2 billion kyats were found hidden inside the truck and seized, the statement said.
Upon further investigation, it is learnt that the seized drugs were being transported from Shan State (North) to Yangon Region to be sold. The arrested person has been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the investigation is in process to identify the perpetrators involved in the chain of the crime.
