A man robbed Kanbawza Bank Branch 37 in Maha Aungmye Township, Mandalay, at 2 pm on February 21 and ran away with over 110 million kyats, a police officer of No. 9 Myanmar Police Force Station in Maha Aungmyay Township confirmed to One News.
A man wearing a mask and riding a Super Cup motorbike arrived at the bank. He entered the bank, brandished a gun and ran away with more than 110 million kyats. “We are still pursuing the perpetrator. We have not found him yet. More than 1.1 billion kyats in cash was taken,” the police officer said.
Security personnel are conducting a cordon and search operation to arrest the perpetrator after the bank robbery. On January 11, a lone man armed with a homemade pistol entered the same bank branch in Mandalay, where the robbery took place, and he was surrounded and arrested by the bank employees and nearby residents.
