A gang of people who had committed robbery while dressing in guerrilla uniforms and posing as security forces in Mandalay had been taken into custody, the State Administration Council Information Team announced on May 15.
A gang of people posing as security officers often robbed Amarapura in the towns of Mandalay, Kyaukse, and Myit Nge. The Police Force has been investigating to arrest the offenders. On May 5, 2025, Nay Htet Lin, the ringleader of the robbery and looting, a resident of Mya Yee Nanda Ward, Chan Myat Thashi Township, was arrested.

According to the confession of the arrested Nay Htet Lin, the chain of perpetrators was further identified and arrested. 17 members of the gang- 15 men and two women-including Nay Htet Lin’s wife, May Mi Mi Ko, taken into custody along with weapons and equipment used in the crimes.
According to the confessions of the arrested, they were involved in three robberies in 2023, three gold shop robberies in 2024, the March 17, 2025, robbery of over 11.9 million kyat entering a residence, the April 5, 2025, cloth shop robbery, and the April 28, 2025, Shwe Zamani gold shop robbery.
The offenders and the evidence utilized in the robbery and looting were examined and efforts were taken to successfully pursue legal action against 17 individuals, including Nay Htet Lin. Investigations have also been conducted in order to retrieve the items taken during the robbery, apprehend the other offenders, and seize any remaining firearms and ammunition as quickly as possible.
