Four men who stole an ancient reclining Buddha statue from Shwe Oya Pagoda in Mandalay were arrested on the morning of February 20, according to the Mandalay Region Police Force. The reclining Buddha statue was stolen from Shwe Oya Pagoda, located on (82) Street, between (37) Street and (38) Street, in Yadanar Bonmi East Ward, Maha Aung Myay Township, on February 18.
A police officer from No. 9 Police Station, Maha Aung Myay Township confirmed that the four violators were arrested along with the Buddha image two days after the investigation was launched. The ancient reclining Buddha image was stolen in 2007 for the first time and the thieves were arrested in Myawaddy that time.
