29 individuals including 7 Thai citizens who were violating online scam (Zia Pain) and illegal online gaming were arrested in San Saing (A) Ward in Tachilek , Shan State(East) together with 440 computers, 390 mobile phones, two vehicles and related equipment, said SAC Information Team.
16 individuals, 11 men and 5 women, including Min Kyaw, in charge of the online gambling operations, and Yi Yi Phyo, an interpreter, were arrested in a house leased by Wai Sen, a resident of Thailand, in San Saing (A) Ward in Tachilek on February 12 together with 61 Laptops, 329 Flat Desktops, 90 Systems (CPU), 90 various types of phones, two without license vehicles.

The joint security teams continued their search and on the evening of February 13, 13 people, including 7 Thai citizens, one Myanmar citizen, and 5 women, living in the San Saing (A), were arrested along with 50 computers, 300 various phones, four packages of about 1 kilogram of raw opium poppy leaves, 10 bottles of 1 liter of boiled opium poppy leaf and 30 bottles of cough syrup, said the statement.
Therefore, a total of 29 people, including 7 Thai men, 12 Myanmar men, and 10 women, were arrested in the San Saing (A) Ward of Tachilek Township, in two days for illegal online gambling and financial fraud, along with 440 computers, 90 CPUs, 390 phones, two unlicensed vehicles, four packages of about 1 kilogram of raw opium poppy leaves, 10 bottles of 1 liter of boiled opium poppy leaf and 30 bottles of cough syrup, according to the release.

According to the confessions of those arrested, the Thai nationals entered Myanmar’s Tachilek via Friendship Bridge No. (1) and they contacted other persons to operate illegal online gambling and online scams, the statement said.
The security operations are continuously being carried out to swiftly arrest those involved, including the owner of the online gambling operation, Wai Sen, a Thai national residing in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and his wife, Ranju, along with other accomplices. Additionally, those already arrested are being systematically investigated and necessary measures have been carried out to take legal action.
