A reception to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations was held at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Yangon on the evening of September 24. The ceremony was attended by U Tin Aung San, Union Minister for the Presidential Office (1), and his wife. First, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia and officials warmly welcomed Union Minister U Tin Aung San and his wife, and those attending the ceremony, and then they viewed the historical photos of China on display.
Then, the ceremony was opened with the Myanmar and Chinese national anthems, and a video documenting China’s regional development was shown. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia delivered a welcoming speech, while Union Minister U Tin Aung San delivered a congratulatory speech. Union Minister U Tin Aung San said that today’s ceremony was a celebration of the achievements of the Chinese leaders and people over the past 76 years, and a symbolic victory that reflects the historical memories, strong partnership, mutual respect and commitment to promote cooperation in all fields between the two countries that have been preserved for more than 75 years.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the friendship between the two countries has been strong, and the bilateral relations have been launched with the joint promulgation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence based on non-aggression, non-interference, mutual respect, equality and cooperation. U Tin Aung San said that China’s timely emergency relief, health assistance, rehabilitation and resettlement assistance after the Mandalay earthquake has given moral strength to the Myanmar people who suffered from the earthquake.
Similarly, U Tin Aung San expressed gratitude for China’s positive support for Myanmar’s peace and national reconciliation efforts, its support for Myanmar in regional and international forums such as ASEAN and the United Nations, and its assistance in successfully holding Myanmar’s general elections scheduled to begin at the end of this year.
Furthermore, he expressed his full confidence that by continuing to work together based on Swe Myo Pauk Phaw relations among good neighbors, a higher level of relations can be reached. Afterwards, Union Minister U Tin Aung San and Ms. Ma Jia cut the commemorative cake marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations. They then joined the attendees of the reception in a group photo.
