Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in the energy sector between China and Myanmar at the Energy Ministry’s Yaynan Thar Guest Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on June 9.
During the meeting, they discussed the implementation status of bilateral agreements on energy cooperation and future plans. They also discussed issues such as encouraging Chinese companies to invest in Myanmar’s promising offshore oil and gas exploration and production blocks and encouraging Chinese companies to cooperate in exploration and production in existing offshore blocks.

In addition, they discussed the issue of jointly implementing a new oil refinery project by receiving crude oil from the Southeast Asian crude oil pipeline and the urgent implementation of energy sector projects included in the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor strategic plan.
