Agro-based industries have not been successful as sufficient work has not actually been done, and efforts must be made to achieve success, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
He made the remarks on the second day of the work coordination meeting of the State Administration Council government held on May 20.
Myanmar has good foundations for successful agro-based livestock enterprises. In order to achieve goals and objectives in the agricultural industry, it is necessary to provide the required inputs correctly, and agricultural methods must be correct. There are many countries in the world that are developing with agricultural and livestock products, and India, the world’s fourth largest economy, is the world’s largest rice exporter while Brazil is a major soybean exporter, he said.

Therefore, if we emulate the actions and successes of those countries, we will also be able to develop and move towards an agro-based industry. In addition, the country can successfully develop a cotton-based industry and carry out bamboo-based industrial activities. Since Myanmar has abundant bamboo resources, it is necessary to produce bamboo pulp, bamboo accessories, food products, etc., he said.
