Three million tonnes of rice and broken rice have been targeted to eXport in the 2025-2026 financial year, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation(MRF). In the last financial year, 2.26 million tonnes of rice and broken rice were exported, while 1.6 million tonnes in the 2023-2024 financial year and 2.487 million tonnes in the 2024-2025 financial year were exported.
This financial year, it is targeted to export up to 3 million tonnes. In the early part of this financial year, most of the rice was exported to the Philippines, China, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland, while the most broken rice was exported to Belgium, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, the Netherlands and the UK.
Currently, the non-glutinous rice varieties in the group of Emata/ Ngasein such as Sinthukha, Thihtat Yin, Yadanar Toe, Nga Sein Yar Kyaw, Karin Ma, Tun Pu, GW-11, Saw Shub, 747, Thi Pu, Hnan Kauk, Ziyar, Ngwe Toe, Minaya and Shwe Mann.
According to data provided by MRF, more than 400,000 tonnes of rice and broken rice have been exported to international markets in the first two months of this financial year.
