Due to the severe rains, the sesame produced in Magway this year was high in acidity and low in quality, causing the market to become dull, according to sesame traders. The areas on the west bank of the Ayeyarwady River in Magway Region cultivate sesame using irrigation and this is the season for irrigated sesame.

In Magway, irrigated sesame is traded from June to August. Currently, a basket of white sesame is priced between Ks.100,000 and Ks.120,000, while a basket of black sesame costs between Ks.200,000 and Ks.220,000. Sesame is primarily exported to Mandalay, but there is little buying and little market, making the market in Magway dull. In addition to sesame, other pulses are trading poorly in Magway.
