Over three hundred thousand tonnes of rice and broken rice were exported in April and May of the 2026-2027 fiscal year, according to the statistics of the Myanmar Rice Federation. In the 2 months, 305,821 tonnes of rice and broken rice were exported, earning export revenue of US$93 million.
In the last April, Myanmar exported 169,559 tonnes of rice and broken rice, and in May, 136,262 tonnes of rice and broken rice were exported. In this fiscal year, rice and broken rice were exported to the international markets only by sea, and there was no export through border trade. In terms of rice exports, the largest tonnes of rice were exported to Madagascar, the Philippines, China, Poland, and Spain, and the largest tonnes of broken rice were exported to China, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Italy, and the UK.
The main types of coarse rice exported to the international markets are those from the Emata /Nga Sein group, such as Sin Thu Kha, Thi Dat Yin, Yadanar Toe, Nga Sein Yar Gyaw, Kayin Ma, Tun Pu, Ziyar, Ngwe Toe, Min Ayar, and Shwe Mann, and China has a market share of about 50 percent.
