Efforts have been underway to systematically hand over earthquake-damaged buildings, said the Chairman of Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation (MCEF) U Shein Win. He made this statement at the MCEF 30th Pearl Jubilee Celebration and Build Smart & Local Products Exhibition held on May 15.
The MCEF is collaborating with the Myanmar Federation of Engineers (MFE) and also cooperating with experts to provide technical assistance to repair buildings damaged by the earthquake, U Shein Win said.
After the Mandalay earthquake, 215 blue-grade staff housing units and 210 orange-level staff housing units have been renovated in Nay Pyi Taw , while 120 red-level units are currently under renovation. MCEF is also constructing 40 new staff housing units in Nay Pyi Taw in accordance with the established standards, said Vice- Chairman of the MCEF U Kyaw Kyaw Oo.
To systematically rebuild earthquake-damaged buildings, training courses for skilled workers have been held in Yangon, Mandalay, Sagaing and Inle in Shan State to produce skilled workers. The 7.7-magnitude Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28, 2025, killed more than 3,800 people and caused extensive damage to roads, bridges, residential buildings and other structures in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, and Shan State (South).
