The potential for bilateral cooperation in areas such as cross-border e-commerce, clean energy, and infrastructure connectivity is very broad, and China is willing to use the launch of the “15th Five-Year Plan” as an opportunity to strengthen strategic development ties with Myanmar, said Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia.
She made the remarks at the 2026 China “Two Sessions” meeting and the first-quarter China-Myanmar media briefing held at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel in Yangon on the morning of March 26.
In recent years, China-Myanmar friendly relations have developed steadily, and have witnessed strong practical cooperation in various fields such as agriculture, poverty alleviation, energy, infrastructure, socio-cultural exchanges. With the expansion of domestic demand and the continued implementation of China’s high-level opening-up policy, the opportunities for Myanmar products to enter the Chinese market have also been expanding. At the same time, China’s digital economy, green energy and industrial upgrading have brought new progress to China-Myanmar economic and trade cooperation.
In addition, Ms. Ma Jia said that they are willing to jointly implement the four global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, jointly build the “Belt and Road” in a high-quality way, and promote the sustainable construction of the China-Myanmar community of shared future, so that more people can enjoy the benefits of economic development.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Ms Ma Jia, Minister Counsellor Dr Zheng Zhihong, officials from the Ministry of Information, Chinese and Myanmar media representatives, and experts from various fields.
