The first regular session of the third Pyithu Hluttaw began at 10 a.m. on March 16 at the Pyithu Hluttaw in Nay Pyi Taw. On the first day of the first regular session of the third Pyithu Hluttaw, the following activities were carried out: the the appointment of the presiding chairperson to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw, the oath- taking and signing of the oath record by the chairperson, the delivery of the greetings by the Chairperson, the oath- taking and signing of the oath record by Pyithu Hluttaw representatives, the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the handover of the responsibilities by presiding chairperson to the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker, and the delivery of the greetings message by the Speaker.
The third Pyithu Hluttaw has 263 elected representatives and 110 Tatmadaw representatives, making a total of 373 Pyithu Hluttaw representatives.The Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has won the most seats with 231 among the 263 constituencies where the election was held.
In addition, the Shan and Nationalities Democratic Party (White Tiger Party) has won seven seats, the Pa-O National Organization (PNO) and the Mon Unity Party have won five seats each, the National Unity Party and the Naga National Party have won four seats each, the Karen National Democratic Party, the Rakhine Nationalities Party, Shan-Ni(Tai-Leng) Solidarity Party (S.S.P), the Danu Nationalities Democracy Party, the Ine National League Party, the Kachin State People’s Party have won one seat each, and one independent candidate has won.
