Myanmar is carrying out labour policies balancing them to foster flexible labor markets, said Union Minister for Labor U Aung Kyaw Hoe.
He made the remarks at the Global Labour Market Conference 2026 held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from January 26 to 27. At a ministerial roundtable discussion on the first day of the conference, Union Minister U Aung Kyaw Ho said Myanmar is prioritizing four key areas to translate policies into practice.
First, efforts are being made to transform unorganized sectors into organized and registered sectors to make job opportunities accessible to everyone. Second, in order to provide workers with the right skills, the development of the Myanmar Workers’ Skills Standards Commission’s occupational skill standards, recognition of prior learning, and skills assessment and certification under the (RPL) system are carrying out in collaboration with the private sector.
Third, efforts are being made to balance policies to be in line with flexible labor markets and fourth, stronger bilateral and multilateral cooperation frameworks are being carried out to link cross-border labor demand and supply, including through the effective use of technology and information, he said.
The conference aims to address the challenges facing labor markets around the world and create better job opportunities for the future. The conference was attended by labor ministers from 40 countries, representatives from the ILO, the World Bank, international embassies, government ministries, representatives from international partner organizations, and CEOs of world-renowned technology companies.
