The Office of the National Defense and Security Council issued an order on September 9 stating that four judges, including judges of the Supreme Court of the Union, have been transferred and appointed as members of the Union Election Commission (UEC).
The National Defense and Security Council made the transfers and appointments under Article 427 (b) of the Constitution. Those transferred and appointed as members of the UEC are Supreme Court Justices U Khin Maung Gyi, U Myo Maung, U Kyi Thein, and Mandalay Region Chief Justice Daw Khin Thin Wai. The UEC, which was reconstituted on July 31st, has 13 members including Chairman U Than Soe and now has 4 more members.
