Armed groups including PDF are invited again if they are willing to cooperate with the government and the Tatmadaw to serve the interests of the nation and the region, the National Defense and Security Council Information Team announced. In response to an invitation to establish a Union founded on democracy and a federal system for the benefit of the Union, some PDFs and other armed groups have returned to the legal fold, and their members, including those from PDFs, have been handed over to their parents.
According to the statement, the government’s cooperation with neighbouring countries has made it difficult for some EAO groups to stand up, while PDF members are suffering much more. Furthermore, the statement said that it is time to accept the reality that the democratic setback is the result of armed conflict.
Therefore, the announcement states that if they wish to collaborate with the government and the Tatmadaw to achieve national and regional interests in the hope of building the Union founded on democracy and a federal system after the upcoming election, they will be welcomed and accepted. Accordingly, it has been announced that individuals or groups may contact and coordinate with nearby military camps or regional authorities.
