The Myanmar Embassy in Singapore announced on August 8 that individuals can file a complaint for of being charged illicit fees for passport extension appointments. Myanmar citizens with 14 months remaining on their passports should send their details to the embassy’s WhatsApp numbers +6581748993 and +6582468581 to request an appointment.
The embassy’s statement said that some individuals, taking advantage of those unaware of this notice, have been charging fees to book appointments showing no sympathy for their fellow Myanmar nationals.
Therefore, Myanmar citizens are asked to help each other and report any illicit fees paid for renewal appointments to the embassy’s WhatsApp number +6581748993 and [email protected].
Additionally, the announcement clarified that if any fees exceeding the official rates are charged during passport extension processes, it can be immediately reported to consular officer or Embassy officer in charge. It is also stated that Myanmar citizens in Singapore only need to make an appointment for passport renewal while no prior appointment is required for the other consular matters.
