The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Member of the Political Bureau, Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Wan Yi met with Senior General (retired) U Than Shwe in Nay Pyi Taw on August 14, according to Xinhua News.
In this meeting, Senior General (retired) U Than Shwe conveyed his greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping through Mr. Wan Yi and expressed his hope that China will continue to provide valuable support to protect Myanmar from foreign interference and maintain internal stability.
Mr. Wan Yi told President Xi Jinping’s greetings to U Than Shwe, saying that China is committed to Myanmar’s freedom, always supported the protection and preservation of the unity of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
As Myanmar, under the constitutional framework, efforts to reconcile domestic affairs politically, supports the smooth conduct of the nationwide election and the resumption of democratic transition, Mr. Wan Yi said.
In addition, firmly oppose the intervention of foreign forces in Myanmar that destroy the stability and development of Myanmar, uphold the spirit of mutual support together with Myanmar and wii be a true friend trusted by the government and people of Myanmar, Mr. Wan Yi said.
