Bago Region, in Shwe Kying Township, the water level of the Shwe Kying River has risen due to heavy rains, some wards and villages are affected and schools have been closed, according to local authority.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced the gauge at 12:30 noon on July 26, Shwe Kyin River’s water has reached 70 cm above the alarming water level in Shwe Kyin.
Due to the rise of the Shwe Kyin River, more than more than 4,000 people were affected by the flood in the wards and villages in Shwe Kyin Township, also at least 20 schools are being closed.
Flood-affected households have been accommodated in religious buildings and school gymnasiums, local authority said.
