President of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric said that it is necessary to urgently act to fulfill rising humanitarian needs in Myanmar according to a statement released by ICRC on September 10 in respect of her visit to Myanmar from September 5 to 9. In the statement, it is mentioned that communities in conflict-affected areas had faced huge difficulties accessing health care, sanitation systems, clean water, food and shelter. According to the statement, at the end of her visit, the ICRC president asked for more humanitarian work to be provided to the civilians who need help across the country.
During her visit to Myanmar, the ICRC president went and paid respects to Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on September 9. At the meeting, they discussed the need to work together with relevant ministries for ensuring that necessary aid will actually reach the people in need of help and not fall into the hands of unrelated organizations.
