Americans Coco Gauff racked up wins to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open in front of friendly, home crowds on Friday (August 30).
Gauff, the defending champion, faced her toughest test yet at this year’s final major but safely reached the fourth round with a 3-6 6-3 6-3 victory over Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
Next up for the number three seed is fellow American 13 seed Emma Navarro who enjoyed a 6-4 4-6 6-3 win over Ukraine’s 19th seed Marta Kostyuk.
