According to the latest statistics collected due to the recent flooding across the country, there are some 400,000 people who have fled the floods, Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said on September 17 at a meeting on natural disaster management.
The Senior General said the latest statistics on the damage and losses due to the recently occurred natural disaster stated that 226 people died in the natural disaster in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, Kayah, Karen, Mon and Shan states and Bago, Magway, Mandalay and Ayeyawady regions with 77 missing, adding that 12 people were washed away by the floods and 47 were injured.
A total of 1,915 houses were totally damaged, 201 were partially damaged, and 158,343 houses were flooded, he said.
The Senior General said that suitable supplies including instant noodles and other foodstuffs will be provided to the flood-affected people.
