Lineal super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and his challenger Eddie Berlanga arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday (September 10) ahead of Saturday’s (September 14) title bout at the T-Mobile Arena.
Puerto Rico’s Berlanga asked by the press the 27-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, predicted a sixth round knockout.
“We’re gonna knock him out in the sixth round. He told me eight rounds, I got him six,” Berlanga said as he looks to spoil Canelo’s party on Mexican Independence Day weekend.
For Canelo, the fight marks his eighth title defence of at least one of the super middleweight championship belts.
Despite Berlanga boasting an undefeated record of 22 wins and 17 knockouts, De La Hoya questioned the calibre of his previous opponents to cast doubt over whether the ‘Nuyorican’ fighter deserves a shot at three of the four super middleweight titles, causing Berlanga to bite back on social media.
