Alex Morgan played her final farewell match for San Diego Wave on Sunday and has officially hung up her soccer boots after a brilliant 15-year professional career.
The 35-year-old played limited minutes in the 4-1 loss to North Carolina Courage at Snapdragon stadium and left the field to a standing ovation Morgan said she didn’t expect to retire midseason but found out a few weeks ago she was pregnant.
She and husband Servando Carrasco, a former MLS player, have a 4-year-old daughter, Charlie. Morgan played in 224 matches for the national team, ninth all-time, with 123 goals (fifth all-time) and 53 assists (ninth all-time).
