The Ministry of Electricity issued a notification on August 30 that the new electricity rates have been set.
In order to be able to produce and distribute more stable electricity to the people who use electricity, it is necessary to set the new electricity rates because the production cost is high according to the financial year.
The issue of setting the new electricity rate was presented to the Union Government and electricity rates will be set according to the agreement of the Union Cabinet meeting held on July 5, 2024.
According to the announcement,the new electricity rates are 50 kyats from 1 unit to 50 units, 100 kyats from 51 units to 100 units, 150 kyats from 101 units to 200 units, 201 units and above will be charged 300 kyats for hoysehold use.
Non-household will be charged 250 kyats from 1 unit to 5,000 units, 400 kyats from 5001 units to 20,000 units and from 20001 units and above will be charged 500 kyats.
The statement also said that the new electricity rates will be effective from September 1st .
