Croatia under-21 and Hamburg defender Mario Vuskovic had a doping ban extended to four years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Tuesday (August 27).
The 22-year-old, who tested positive for blood booster EPO in November 2022, was given a two-year suspension in March 2023
However in a cross appeal, the German Anti Doping Agency and the World Anti Doping Agency argued at a hearing in May 2024 that the two-year ban – imposed by the German Football Association – should be increased to four years.
CAS found in favour of their case on Tuesday, meaning Vuskovic will be banned until November 15, 2026, which is one day before he turns 25.
Having begun his career at Hadjuk Split, Vuskovic joined Hamburg in 2021, initially on loan before signing a permanent deal.
