Preparations for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games are going well adding that a record number national committees are set to participate, the International Paralympic Committee said at a briefing in Paris on Monday (August 26).
“We have 167 national Paralympic committees here ready to compete that is a record for us — the previous record was 164 that was set at the London 2012 games and equalled also in Tokyo,” said Craig Spence, brand and communications officer at the IPC.
There will also be an eight-strong refugee squad, and 88 competitors from Russia and eight from Belarus who will compete under the neutral banner, Spence said.
The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games kick off with an opening ceremony taking place at landmarks in central Paris on Wednesday (August 28).
