Atletico Madrid unveiled their summer signings to adoring fans at the Estadio Metropolitano on Wednesday (August 21).
Diego Simeone’s side spent big to bring in Argentine forward Julian Alvarez from Manchester City for a reported fee of 75 million euros ($82 million) plus 20 million euros in potential add-ons.
At 24 years old, Alvarez won two Premier League, a Champions League and an FA Cup during his two-year stint in England having lifted the Copa Libertadores with boyhood club River Plate in 2018. Alvarez has also won the World Cup and Copa America with his national team.
The Colchoneros further bolstered their roster with the signings of English midfielder Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, Euro 2024 winning defender Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad and Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth from Villareal.
Atletico Madrid Femenino also invested heavily this summer, bringing in eight new faces to revamp the squad as they try to improve on their third-place finish last season which saw them trail champions Barcelona by 27 points.
