The State Administration Council issued an order dated August 16 saying a central supervisory committee for public security and counter-terrorism has been formed.
According to the order, the supervisory committee is formed with the union minister for border affairs acting as chairman, the deputy minister for defence as deputy chairman (1) and the deputy minister for home Affairs as deputy chairman (2).
The committee includes the people such as the joint adjutant-general, the joint quartermaster-general, deputy commanders of military commands, ministers of border affairs and security of region and state governments and the chief of Myanmar Police Force as members, and a person assigned by the chairman of the committee as the secretary.
The task of the committee is to equip weapons and military equipment that match the battles being fought, make plans and preparations for food supply, conduct tactics training that match the situation to be able to effectively engage in battle, handle and use high-tech military equipment, and include technicians.
Moreover, depending on the period of service of the service members, the committee has to carry out a task of providing deferral, waiver, and exemption in accordance with the People’s Military Service Law and to take measures for enabling the service members wounded and killed in action in battles to get assistance as well.
