The conditions could hardly have been better when FC Bayern’s new number 17 stepped onto the turf at Säbener Straße for the first time on Wednesday morning. At 10:59 a.m., in bright sunshine and 26-degree temperatures, Michael Olise joined his new teammates on the training grounds. The 22-year-old Frenchman was in a good mood as he ran onto the pitch alongside Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies.
After warming up to some music, the Bayern players led by Thomas Müller, who joked around in his usual manner with Jamal Musiala and Olise about their time together as youth players at Chelsea, worked up a sweat with passing and rondo drills. Head coach Vincent Kompany‘s session two days before the Reds’ first competitive game, the DFB Cup tie at SSV Ulm focused on position-specific exercises as well as tactical processes.
Following his silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris, Olise is now concentrating on familiarising himself with his new surroundings. Bayern fans can look forward to a creative and skilful attacking player.
