Team Serbia received a hero’s welcome at Belgrade’s city hall on Monday (August 12) as they returned from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Serbia took five medals home from Paris with Novak Djokovic winning gold in the men’s singles tennis tournament to complete a Golden Slam and become only the fifth player to win all four singles Grand Slams and the Olympic title during their careers.
3X NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, meanwhile, almost helped his team pull off the shock of the Games on the basketball court when they narrowly lost 95-91 to the United States’ so-called ‘Dream Team’ in the semi-finals before going onto claim the bronze medal over Germany.
Serbia also won gold in men’s water polo and mixed 10m air pistol team shooting as well as a silver in women’s taekwondo.
