The World Food Program (WFP) has announced that it has started providing emergency food aid to more than 100,000 people affected by floods in five regions and states in Myanmar.
Heavy monsoon rains that started in late June have caused severe flooding, affecting more than 200,000 people in Myanmar and many of them are temporarily homeless, according to announcement.
Now WFP teams already provided cash, rice, special nutritional food and biscuits for at least 120,000 flood victims in Bago, Kachin, Karen, Magway and Sagaing Region.
WFP also announced that it will continue to monitor the situation and expand flood response programs if necessary.
