Union Election Commission announced on August 5 that the applications for party registration of the New Human Society Party and the Zomi League for Democracy were rejected based on the respective ministries’ verification reply.
It is said that the New Human Society Party and the Zomi Democracy League Party have been rejected in form (g) of the Law on Registration of Political Parties because they do not comply with the provisions of Section 6 of the Law on Registration of Political Parties.
The remaining groups that have applied for the party’s continued establishment registration are also being scrutinized, Union Election Commission announced.
According to the new political parties registration law, the number of political parties allowed to be registered is 50, reported in announcement.
