Due to continuous rains and floods in Karen State, Hpa-an and Hlaing Bwe Township, 14 flood relief centers have been opened in Hpa-an 6 flood relief centers in Hlaing Bwe Township, according to the Karen State government.
Lower area of Hpa-an and Hlaing Bwe Township are flood and relevant officials have helped the flood-affected people with food and rice, local authorites said.
According to the state government, 2 bridges on the Asia Highway were also broken due to heavy rains and water flowing down the hill in Hlaing Bwe Township.
Department of Meteorology and Hydrology released that the water level of Thanlwin River has exceeded the critical water level of 750 cm in Hpa-an city and reached 942 cm, According to the measurement at 12:30 p.m., on July 29.
Although it may drop by 2 inches in the next 1 day, it may still remain above the critical water level, according to release.
