40 buildings including Yangon Convocation Hall, Bogyoke Museum and other 100 and above years old buildings in 7 States and Regions have been designated as national heritages by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.

The list of buildings includes 15 in Yangon Region, 6 in Pegu Region, 5 in Mandalay Region, 2 in Ayawaddy Region, 2 in Magwe Region, 9 in Mon State and 1 in Shan State. Yangon Convocation Hall, Bogyoke Museum, Kanbawza avenue Chin Chaung Palace, No(4) State High School Puzondaung, No(2) State High School Botahtaung and main hall of Yaynanchaung University are also in the list.

After been designated as buildings of national heritage, they have been observed and maintained systematically and collectively for their sustainability, said Director General U Nyo Myint Tun, spokeman of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.

The buildings over 100 years and above old such as hostels at universities and State High Schools are designated as buildings of national heritage based on historical and cultural values, artistic and architectural values and other considerations in line with Article 34, Sub Article (b) of the Law on the Preservation and Protection of Ancient Buildings.
