Former President U Thein Sein will attend the 70th anniversary celebration of the 5 Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to be held in China, Chinese Embassy in Yangon announced on June 27.
According to release, chairman of Myanmar Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) U Thant Kyaw, Chairman of Myanmar-China Friendship Association U Tin Oo, the chairperson of Daw Myari Foundation Daw Than Than Nu will also attend the ceremony.
On June 26, Ambassador Mr. Chan Hai visited Nay Pyi Taw to meet former President U Thein Sein and discussed the situation in Myanmar. The statement also stated that they exchanged views on issues such as China-Myanmar cooperation.
Former President U Thein Sein also said that he wished the ceremony to be held successfully to mark the 70th anniversary of the publication of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
Myanmar and China agreed to respect each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,Not to invade each other’s country,not to interfere in internal affairs, for each country to be equal and to benefit from each other. They signed five basic principles for peaceful coexistence on June 29, 1954.
