India sent a consignment of 2200 metric tonnes of rice to Myanmar as a gesture of solidarity, said Indian Embassy in Myanmar. The assistance aims to distribute 140,000 Myanmar people including children, women, elders and disabled persons. 2200 metric tonnes of rice sent by Indian government arrived at Yangon port and was transferred on December 12.
Myanmar currently faced severe humanitarian crises and conflicts and India has assisted 53 tonnes of rice during September Typhoon Yagi period.
Indian government said that such assistance to Myanmar aims at perpetuation of mutual friendship and focus on last long relations between two countries in coming years.
