More than 1,000 tons of rice from the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Program will be donated in the four regions of Yangon, Mandalay, Bago and Ayeyawady, according to the Department of Agriculture.
APTERR is a program that distributes and donates rice food in times of emergency situations in the event of experiencing natural disasters internationally.
As the host country, Myanmar has stockpiled the specified amount of rice. 3,250 tons of rice donated by the Republic of Korea last year has been stored at the Thanlyin Warehouse in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, and 200 tons donated by China at the Pyinmana Warehouse in Nay Pyi Taw.
Besides, 2,447.29 tons of emergency rice reserve were donated last month to eight regions and states under the program.
