Flooding has occurred in some cities across Myanmar as rising water levels of rivers have reached above their worry points according to social organizations and the Myanmar Fire Brigade.
According to the Myanmar Fire Brigade, the flooded areas are Tatkon and Zeyathiri townships in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. As there was heavy rains at night on September 10, water levels of Sinthay and Paunglaung creeks rose on September morning and flew into houses in some villages in the townships.
Due to the current Typhoon Yagi, there are heavy rains in Nay Pyi Taw and highlands in the east of the capital. Water level in Ngalike, Sinthay and Paunglaung creeks flowing through the city of Pyinmana is also rising.
Some villages and neighborhoods in Pyawbwe, Yamethin and Kyaukse in Mandalay Region have been flooded due to heavy rains on September 11. Households from those flooded areas are being evacuated.
Flooding continued to occur in neighborhoods of Myawady in Kayin State, Hopang in Pa-O self-administered zone and Kalaw in Shan State (South) and Tachilek in Shan State (East) on September 11 and local residents said there was a need for assistance.
