Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon train services, which were temporarily suspended due to a mine blast on the Bago-Mawlamyine railway section, resumed starting from May 28, according to the Myanma Railways.
A freight train carrying rocks was detonated on the railroad tracks on the Bago-Mawlamyine railway section between Theinseik and Dowun stations on May 25. The mine blast caused some train carriages to derail and railroad tracks to be wrecked. Due to the mine blast, the train service was temporarily suspended.

It was originally announced that the Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon train service would resume on May 29, but due to the track repair work being completed earlier than scheduled, the freight trains including the ones carrying rocks resumed operations on May 27 evening while the service of Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon passenger trains No. 81 Up and No. 82 Down will resume on May 28. The Mawlamyine Railway Station has also announced that Mawlamyine-Yangon train No. 82 Down will be operated ordinary AAR carriages on May 28.
